A Beginners guide to HMTL

There is one basic way to publish your web page on our server. You need to create it at your own computer and FTP (file transfer protocol) the files you need to your directory on our server. For some suggestions for FTP software, click here. Here's what you need to do:

1. Start your FTP software
2. login with your username and password to users.acsnet.com
3. change directory to your public_html directory
4. place your files in this directory

Some things you may need to know:

• Your page will be located at http://users.acsnet.com/~your_login/
• Your main page will be in a file called index.html and you will need this file in the public_html directory.
• Make sure to switch to the public_html directory before uploading your files. If they are not in this directory, they will not appear on the web.

You're now ready to test out your home page.

This is how to add a counter to your page:

You can refer to the program from web page like this:

<img src="/cgi-bin/Count.cgi?df=sample.dat" align=absmiddle>

Please do not use the sample file (sample.dat) use something like: yourusername_index.dat. using this naming you can then have a counter on each page by using yourusername_page1.dat and yourusername_page2.dat.
