FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about Terms used with Windows

Q. What is a "Right Click" inside of Windows 95/98?

A. Right clicking is an easy way to access shortcuts inside on Windows 95/98. If you right-click on an icon it allows you to "Cut", "Paste", and others instead of accessing the Menu bar. To right click move you pointer over and icon and press and release you right mouse button and it will bring a drop down menu and highlight the command and use your left mouse button to select it. (Note: Not all drop down menus are the same. Example with the picture below, you would not have "ICQ - Send to user" if you don't have ICQ installed on your system).

Q. What is "Highlighting"?

A. Highlighting is prominent color change when you select an option or selecting text to be copied or cut.

  "Details" is what is highlighted.

Q. What is a Scroll Bar?

A. Scroll Bars are what allow you to move up and down or left and right to view a object that is bigger then the window it resides in. You find Scroll Bars in Word Processors and Web Browers to move up and down to view your documents. Usally they are found near the edge of the window. There are two parts, the Scroll Buttons and the Scroll Box. The Scroll Buttons are at each end of the Scroll Bar, and you can click once to move up or down the document one line at a time. To use the Scroll Box, you must move you mouse pointer on top of the Scroll Box and hold down the left mouse button and move your mouse up or down and left or right in the direction that you want it to go in (Scroll Bars vertically go up and down and Scroll bar horizontal will go left and right). This will allow you to move quickly though the document.
