So, you can't get any email, eh? Well, you've come to the right place. Here we will provide you with helpful hints to make it so you can receive your email again. This tutorial will use graphics from Outlook Express 5.0 for the PC, but the ideas are the same for both version 4.0 for PC and for versions of Outlook Express for the Macintosh.
The first step is to figure out what is happening on your computer so that your email cannot be delivered. Open up your Outlook Express program if it is not already open. When it is opened, there should be a window that tells you what type of error that has ocurred.
Host Could Not Be Found
If you get this error message:

it means that the server that is holding your email could not be found on the internet. (The x's in the picture would be different than what is on your screen.) Look in the picture at the message "the host xxx.xxx.xxx could not be found." If the name of the host that you see on your screen is not 'mail.acsnet.com', then there is an easy fix.
Fix:
Click on the "Hide" button to close the window. Look on the menu bar for the tools menu:

Under the tools menu, you will see "Accounts." Click on "Accounts." In the accounts window, you will see a tab at the top that reads "Mail." Click on "Mail." There should be one account in this window if you only have email from ACS Networks. Highlight this account, then click on the properties button on the right side of the window.

At the top of this properties window, you will see a tab that reads "Servers." Click on it, and find out what server your computer is trying to contact. It should look like this, with your own username where it says "your_login" and your own password below it:

If there is anything other than "mail.acsnet.com" in either text box for server information, change it to "mail.acsnet.com" and your problems may just be solved. Wasn't that easy?
If you do see "mail.acsnet.com" in the aforementioned text box, your problems may be a bit more involved. One solution is to make absolutely sure you have an internet connection when you check your email by clicking on the "Connection" tab next to the "Servers" tab. Click on the checkbox next to "Always connect to this account using", and select "ACS Networks, Inc." (or similar) from the select box below it. This will ensure that when your Outlook Express tries to get your email, it will use the connection to the ACS Networks server. If you still cannot get your email, but can access the internet over your ACS Networks connection, give us a call at 551-1136 and we will give you further assistance.
The "host could not be found" error is by far the most common error we encounter. If you have some other type of error that appears, call us here at 551-1136 and we will be happy to help you fix your problem.
